Portable detector solution for gas detection in septic tanks
The septic tank is a device for processing feces and filtering. The principle is that the solidified material is decomposed at the bottom of the pool, and the hydrated objects in the upper layer enter the pipeline and flow away, preventing the pipeline from clogging and providing solidified objects (feces and other garbage)with enough time to hydrolyze.
In recent years, news about the explosion of septic tanks has occurred frequently, and the reason for the explosion of septic tanks is nothing more than the production of toxic and harmful gases such as biogas, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen sulfide from the sludge deposited in the septic tanks. In an enclosed area with no air circulation, flammable gases such as methane or biogas may cause fire or even explosion if sparks are accidentally generated by external power.
In order to achieve the purpose of safety forecasting, there are two methods are popular now, one is a portable gas detector, and the other is a networked gas detector. The portable gas detector can use the ZE03 H2S sensor module of Winsen Technology, adopt the non-split infrared absorption principle and the electrochemical principle to measure the gas concentration of CH4 and CO2 generated in the biogas production process, and at the same time,analyzing the pH of biogas slurry with an external pH probe, which is easy and convenient to operate.

ME3-NH3 electrochemical sensor detect gas concentration by measuring current based on the electrochemical principle, which utilizes the electrochemical oxidation process of target gas on the working electrode inside the electrolytic cell, the current produced in electrochemical reaction of the target gas are in direct proportion with its concentration while following Faraday law, then concentration of the gas could be get by measuring value of current.
ZE03 is a general-purpose and high-performance electrochemical module. It uses three electrodes, electrochemical gas sensor and high-performance micro-processor. By installing different gas sensor, the module could detect relevant gas. It is with built-in temperature sensor to make temperature compensation, which makes it could detect the gas concentration accurately. It has the digital output and analog voltage output at the same time which facilities the usage and calibration and shorten the development period. It is a combination of mature electrochemical detection principle and sophisticated circuit design, to meet customers’ different detection needs.
The MP-702 ammonia gas sensor adopts a multi-layer thick film manufacturing process. The heater and the metal oxide semiconductor gas sensing layer are respectively made on both sides of the micro Al2O3 ceramic substrate, and are packaged in a metal shell. When the detected gas exists in the ambient air, the conductivity of the sensor changes. The higher the concentration of the gas, the higher the conductivity of the sensor. This change in conductivity can be converted into an output signal corresponding to the gas concentration using a simple circuit.
