How an electrochemical oxygen sensor works

Oxygen undergoes a reduction reaction on the working electrode, and an oxidation reaction on the anode material, and releases charges to form a current. The magnitude of the generated current is proportional to the partial pressure of oxygen and follows Faraday's law. The magnitude of the partial pressure of oxygen can be determined by testing the magnitude of the current.
