Vehicle exhaust contains hundreds of different compounds, including suspended solids, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides, lead and sulfur oxides. Among them, hydrocarbons (HC) in automobile exhaust are the result of direct emission of unburned or insufficiently burned gasoline in the form of gas. Under the action of ultraviolet light, hydrocarbons also produce an irritating smog containing complex compounds such as ozone, aldehydes, and nitrates.Not only irritate human eyes and upper respiratory mucosa, but also cause air pollution.
Although the three-way catalytic converter in the automobile exhaust system can convert harmful gases such as carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides from automobile exhaust into harmless carbon dioxide, water and nitrogen through redox. But when the hydrocarbons exceed the purification capacity of the three-way catalytic converter, or the three-way catalytic converter fails, the HC content in the exhaust gas of the car will increase greatly, which is what we call the HC exceeding the standard.
In order to prevent excessive exhaust pollutants from causing harm to the human body, many cars will be equipped with AQS air quality management system, which can monitor the temperature, humidity, air pressure, light, PM2.5, PM10, TVOC and other values in the air outside the car in real time through sensors and the concentration of oxygen (O2), carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO), formaldehyde (CH2O), NOx and other gases, the system automatically switches the internal and external circulation of the air conditioner according to the monitored exhaust pollution level, so as to ensure that the air in the car is not polluted by the outside world.

Danger! Elevated CO2 concentration in the car
Indoor air quality monitoring needs not only exist in houses, offices, but also in car cabins. The detection of CO2 concentration in the car cabins is very important. In a fully enclosed car, if the initial clean air CO2 concentration is 400ppm, it only takes about 30-60 minutes to rise to the severe lethargy concentration (3000ppm) and then to the serious dangerous concentration (5000ppm).
The increase of CO2 concentration in the car will cause the drivers to lose concentration and feel tired. A new car, especially a new one, feels like every part exudes a pungent smell. This kind of car odor mainly comes from the following aspects:
1. The odor of the new car comes from the new car itself
Since all parts of the new car are new, the toxic and harmful gases have not been released long enough, so they will pollute the cab for a long time.
2. From the car interior decoration
The main sources include instrument panels, central controls, seats, etc. The harmful gases they release include benzene, formaldehyde, acetone, xylene etc., which are also very harmful to the human body. The IARC, full name: International Agency for Research on Cancer in June 2004, in its publication No. 153, raised formaldehyde as a class I carcinogen - carcinogen to humans. 3. From the car air conditioner

MEMS combustible gas sensor is using MEMS micro-fabrication hot plate on a Si substrate base, gas-sensitive materials used in the clean air with low conductivity metal oxide semiconductor material. When the sensor exposed to gas atmosphere, the conductivity is changing as the detected gas concentration in the air. The higher the concentration of the gas, the higher the conductivity. The sensor has high sensitivity and small size, and adopts I2C digital signal output mode to facilitate the observation of multiple sensor networks. It also pre-sets a pin for alarm trigger signal output, which can be widely used in many fields such as environmental safety and portable instruments.
The in-vehicle air quality module is a digital, low-power, miniaturized module used in automotive air conditioners. The module uses a combination of MOX semiconductor gas sensor, MEMS manufacturing process, and high-performance microprocessor to detect the air pollution level in the external environment of the car. It utilizes electrochemical principle to detect CH2O in air which makes the module with high selectivity and stability. It is built-in temperature sensor to make temperature compensation.
