The use of CO2 gas storage technology in the granary is an effective grain storage technology, that is, filling the closed granary with CO2, changing the composition of the gas in the granary, destroying the ecological environment of pests and mycete, inhibiting the respiration of grain, and delaying the grain the effect of quality aging, so as to achieve the purpose of safe and environmentally friendly grain storage.

In the construction of the CO2 gas-controlled grain bin project, adopt a large-scale gas supply system for centralized gas supply, adopt automatic monitoring system for CO2 concentration in the grain bin. When the oxygen concentration is below 2% and the carbon dioxide reaches a certain concentration, the grain pests will die rapidly. The carbon dioxide concentration monitoring system mentioned here actually uses CO2 sensor, which is the most commonly used sensor type of grain bin sensor. The CO2 sensor outputs the corresponding CO2 concentration change signal to remind relevant personnel to adjust the carbon dioxide concentration in time. One of the most advanced storage and preservation technologies: Modified Atmosphere Storage
Modified Atmosphere Storage is actually the abbreviation of controlled atmosphere storage and preservation of fresh agricultural products such as fruits and vegetables.It is one of the most common and most advanced storage and preservation technologies in the world.
Modified Atmosphere Storage, also known as Controlled Atmosphere Storage, is on the basis of refrigeration, and increases the adjustment of gas components. Through the control of temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide, oxygen concentration and ethylene concentration in the storage environment,inhibit the respiration of fruits and vegetables, delay their metabolic process, so as to maintain the freshness of fruits and vegetables better, and prolong the storage period and fresh-keeping period. Modified Atmosphere Storage can usually prolong the storage period by nearly 1 times than that of ordinary cold storage; the fresh-keeping period (sale shelf life) after leaving the warehouse can be prolonged by 21 to 28 days, which is 3-4 times that of ordinary cold storage.
The key factors of the modified atmosphere storage includes:
- The sealing of the cold storage. Controlled atmosphere is to add CO2 sensor and nitrogen sensor equipment to the cold storage to adjust the gas, prolong the fresh-keeping period of fruits and vegetables. The modified atmosphere storage requires extremely high sealing to prevent gas leakage and outdoor gas from entering.
- Controllable air conditioning equipment. The main equipment of modified atmosphere preservation includes carbon dioxide generator, nitrogen generator, ethylene remover, oxygen remover, etc.
Fresh fruits and vegetables are living organisms after being harvested. During the storage process, they still carry out normal metabolic activities dominated by respiration, which is manifested as consuming oxygen, releasing carbon dioxide, and releasing a certain amount of heat. Therefore, controlling or adjusting the concentration of O2 and CO2 gas in the storage environment can greatly improve the storage life of certain fruit and vegetable.

ME3-PH3 electrochemical sensor detect gas concentration by measuring current based on the electrochemical principle, which utilizes the electrochemical oxidation process of target gas on the working electrode inside the electrolytic cell, the current produced in electrochemical reaction of the target gas are in direct proportion with its concentration while following Faraday law, then concentration of the gas could be get by measuring value of current.
