Principle of dust sensor
The dust sensor is a sensor that measures the particle content in the gas based on the Mie scattering principle.
Mie scattering is the scattering that occurs when particles in the atmosphere have a diameter comparable to the wavelength of radiation. This scattering is mainly caused by particles in the atmosphere, such as smoke, dust, water droplets and aerosols. The scattering intensity of Mie scattering is inversely proportional to the square of the wavelength, and the scattering is stronger in the forward direction of the light than in the backward direction, and the directionality is more obvious.
Dust sensor type
Dust sensors can be divided into infrared dust sensors and laser dust sensors according to the wavelength of the emitted light used. According to the sensor application field, it can be divided into: civil field, environmental protection field, vehicle field, atmospheric monitoring, etc.
The infrared dust sensor has low cost and long service life, and is suitable for civil equipment. The laser dust sensor has a fan, and the intake air flow is relatively stable, so the data accuracy is high.

How Winsen guarantees the quality of dust sensors
Winsen dust sensors have good consistency and high sensitivity. They will be aged, calibrated, tested and packaged before leaving the factory, and then transferred to the warehouse for delivery. If the sensors are placed in the warehouse for more than 7 days, we will calibrate and test them again to ensure the quality of the product.
In addition, Winsen dust sensors are tested for operational stability and consistency.
Working stability test: The dust sensor is continuously energized for 15D, and the zero output range and relative error are measured.
Consistency test: Record the output value of the sensor 6 times at each concentration of 50, 130, and 260 μg/m³, a total of 18 times, and take the maximum value to detect the description of the accuracy.

What is the function of the triangular hole in the middle of the infrared dust structure?
The triangular hole is the lens cleaning port. When using the infrared dust sensor, in order to maintain the consistency of the sensor data, we recommend that you clean the lens on time and cover the triangular hole with black cotton to prevent external light from entering the sensor and affecting the value.
How to install the infrared dust sensor correctly?
①The infrared dust sensor must be installed vertically;
②Keep away from artificial air flow such as fans. When used in air purifiers, the front and rear of the fan cannot be installed. It can be installed on the side of the casing, but the air vents should be reserved on the casing to ensure that the external airflow can smoothly enter the sensor;
③ Avoid light;
④ Pay attention to avoid organic particles from entering the module during installation. When such particles stick to the optical components, it will cause malfunction.
⑤ Avoid getting wet.
Under the same environment, why is the output value of our laser dust sensor and other sensors different?

What calibration methods are available for CO2 sensors?
Dust has become popular under the background of severe haze in 2014. Winsen infrared dust sensors mainly include ZPH01, ZPH02, ZPH03, ZPH04. Laser dust sensors are divided into ZH03 series, ZH06 series, ZH07 series, and ZH08 series according to different fans and air inlets and outlets.
The infrared dust sensor has a long life, low cost, rich interface output methods, and good long-term stability; while the laser dust sensor has high precision, good consistency, and fast response speed, and can output PM1.0, PM2.5, and PM10 at the same time, but the lifespan is shorter than infrared dust sensors.
